Weekend at the Cottage
I spent my weekend with Jill at her cottage on Lake Erie, she was nice enough to pick me up from Brantford on Friday. Janet, Matt, Matt’s friends Yuhoi and Brian came in the evening and us gals headed down to a gnarly pub called Norfolk. This town doesn’t have a smoking by-law yet… so it’s been a while since I was in a smoke filled room. A U2 tribute band called Elevation was playing there that night, they did U2 proud!! Even looked the part too… the electric guitar work was great. Why doesn’t waterloo (a much bigger town) have those bands performing at bars? Maybe I just haven’t seen any. We headed down to the beach lighthouse afterwards… it was deserted and we had a good time singing our hearts out at the pier.
Next day… after we ate a hearty breakfast, headed down to the beach. Sun and water were right on the money and we girls had fun swimming. Somehow, I thought it’d be funny to make a wreath out of seaweed and wear it on my head; I caught the attention of some cute gals from Berlington who wanted to take a picture with me… geeezzz I must have looked like a swamp lady. Ironically, the guys were sitting around… tanning I suppose, and left after they got burned. We had dinner at this restaurant patio right on the beach. I had grouper… it’s this monster ugly looking fish from Florida, it was great. We headed to a club called the Turkey Point Hotel afterwards, the line-up was INSANE!! We didn’t end up getting in, but did see a brawl between police and some drunk guy outside. The stars were f#@$in incredible.
Woke up Sunday with the biggest heat stroke, the tent was about 50 degrees inside. It was nice to just lounge around with people though. In fact, I’m not sure if we did anything besides going to dinner at this other restaurant by the beach. Best coleslaw EVER! We lit a fire and burned things, which is always a good way to pass the time, then headed down to the lighthouse again… some more loud singing ensued, mostly on my part… glad my friends didn’t throw me overboard.
Headed down to Stratford on Monday… I met this interesting guy on my way back. He was an electrician/Samurai Swordsmen who had an accident with the sword, though they reattached his thumb, it can never bend the same say again. He also had a whacked out theory about how Bin Laden works for the CIA… he takes orders from the US and therefore the London bombings were the result of the US being bored, and wanted an excuse to use their weapons and power… ok there….
Anyway, great weekend, great friends and too much work to do… I will sign of. So long and thanks for all the fish.
