Something to laugh at

Feelin' great and can't shut up.

Hey, it’s 2:06am right now and I’m still clicking away at the comp. boy oh boy where to I start? I stumbled across a great travel story today. It’s made me realize what a huge world this is, if I have the time, why not pack up my bags and go, take a large dose of fukitol and fly away. I’ve got 3 weeks off before school… why not eh?

I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before, just needed a push I guess, a little boredom here in Stratford is another catalyst :) My family isn’t too big on travelling. They did go back to China to visit the relatives. (which I also need to do sometime soon). I talked to my grandparents on the phone the other day… gosh I miss them, and all my cousins, growing up before my ears. Times away!!! WHOOOSHHH and they’re not getting any younger… unfortunately my financial situation won’t allow me to go the whole 180 degrees, 2008 Grandma, here I come!

I sat and looked at a map of the world for a half hour, deciding on the perfect place to go … I know… a weird way to travel you might think; Traveling for the sake of traveling, and not for the destination. BAAAAHHHH I say, is that a crime? I like airplane food!! That’s such a bad joke, I’m sorry.

Travelling anywhere outside of ones normal realm is good, must give a reflection on what one already pocesses (I’m really lucky, love you all) or some other kind of epiphany (no doubt something way cool), especially to travel alone for the first time… perks me right up when I think about it.

Back to the map… geeez what a wide selection… heck of a lot more historical background than this place, yet Canada is still one of the best places to live... Damn right!! We’ve got syrup. Yet perhaps it’s the simplicity of this country that makes it so welcoming to those who seek refuge from a long and complicated past. My sights are set on Europe for now. Not all of Europe, that wouldn’t be fair. I like the looks of Portugal, Spain, France, maybe Switz. and the surrounding places, then off to San Marino (which by the way has some of the most beautiful coins in the world), then down to Italy. Now I just need to get a ticket for next month… is that possible, lazy me!! Must plan ahead better!!

I’ll appreciate anybody with some experience in travel to give me some tips and recommend a good start on finding discount student airfare. Please please and please.

I could go on forever, but I think I’ve had enough for tonight. Thanks for reading and fill me in on how you’ve been.

PS: My endorphin level was exceedingly high today… like the same old songs on my mp3 sounded like the first time I’ve ever heard them, but better because I can sing along while biking with no hands hehe... Lots of bugs out today… undeniably ate a few. “Freebird” by Skynrd seemed more beautiful than ever. Even got a little red-eyed listening to it, kinda surprised myself.

"it’s 2:06am right now and I’m still clicking away at the comp" ... GO TO BED LOU!! (yes, I am saying this 6 1/2 hours later, I assume you have already :P)

*sigh* I wanna travel. Yes, I know I was in Australia just 6 1/2 short months ago, but there's so much out there!

(sidenote: when you go to China in 2008, I could be in Japan - you should make a detour there at some point!)

Europe would be fantastic to visit! Honestly, you should do the backpacking thing, since you're a student. Stay in youth hostels - they're definitely cheap, then you can also meet other students who are travelling. I would recommend checking out either cheaptickets.com or TravelCuts - both are cheap (not sure which one's cheaper...TravelCuts has student prices I think though!)

I have a book on Western Europe in Waterloo if you want to borrow - not sure when I'll see you though (well, hopefully you're coming down for long weekend, but I don't know if I'll be home before then :S) But I definitely think that if you want to go to Europe, then you should go to Europe! That'd be awesome!

I only have one request though (if you don't mind) - I have a shot glass collection from places...can you contribute if you go?

LOL...I miss hanging around you b/c I don't hear Freebird very much (plus you're just damn cool to hang around)...I guess I could turn on my laptop to hear it, but not the same without the Lou :P

Don't forget...I've mentioned to you (I think) that Jan & I have talked about going out west next summer after school's done for a couple weeks - fly into Calgary, stay a couple days, then rent a car to drive through the Rockies, & hit Banff & end up in Vancouver...you should come! :D

Love ya Lou...email me!

thanks for the comment jill, forever and always appriciate your sweet sweet words. I did go to bed at around 3:30am, but I didn't sleep a wink... too f*$king excited. It's so funny you should mention the trip to Vancouver and Banff. That's the other option I had for my time off :D thinking of Banff then meeting a friend in Vancouver in August, but if you guys are going next summer, I'll probably be going Eurotripping now.

I'm still in for the cottage!! And would love to borrow that book. If I do end up in europe, i'll get you a shot glass, it might even have a shot in there too

LOL...Lou Lou Lou.

Dunno how you do it. I can get away with little sleep during school, but I can't during work. Half the time I'm dead at my desk after 7 hrs in a night!

Lots of coffee for you today I guess?

I'm definitely planning on hitting the west next summer...you should totally come!

I'll do what I can to get you the book...I'm just not sure when I'm going home again, or if it'll be before the long weekend. But we'll figure it out.

Mmm...shot :D

WOW Lou! Sounds like you're really excited about the EuroTrip. And Jill's right, try TravelCuts. I have heard much about them; especially their affordable prices for students. You should first get an ISIC card to be eligible for those discounts.

A friend of mine actually went back-packing in Europe. She loved it very much. I would think it's much cheaper too.

You might want to go to some poor developing country. You will appreciate life much, much more and it will be an experience you won't forget. :)

Also, I probably won't be able to go to Vancouver. But I definitely want to make that bike trip to Montreal. So start pumping those cute legs if you want to join me :P

Take care dudette

Hey thanks for commenting :) I love it

I didn't have a drop of coffee, in fact, I haven't even really eaten anything in the last couple of days.

Sophie, when don't you take some time off work and come to Europe!! I hope to meet people to travel with but it'll be a lot more fun w/2 :D

That Montreal bike trip sounds awsome bud!! I'm not sure my legs are as hardcore as yours! When are you going? Maybe not this term but I'm up for anything next year. Waiting to see you at the Olympics... represent!! Bro!~

So last night, I was lying outside (around 11pm), looking up at the sky, and had my arms out, and I thought of a bird flying, and started singing "Freebird" which ultimately reminded me of Lou. Then I thought of Lou all excited a couple nights ago when she posted this entry, and her laughing & singing & dancing around, all excited. I could picture it perfectly. It amused me, and I smiled, and realized I miss Lou.

And that was a completely random post on Lou's journal talking about Lou in 3rd person.
